Find the point of failure
- 1
The card will not link
Check card number, expiry, name and billing details, then the wallet’s supported networks and card types. Debit, prepaid and virtual card eligibility depends on the app and issuer. Never send complete card details to an unverified support contact.
- 2
The verification code is missing
Check whether the code goes to the bank-registered number or the app login number. Keep that SIM enabled with network service, verify the country code and wait for the retry timer.
- 3
The linked card is declined
Check connectivity, available credit, overseas and online-payment settings, and bank security alerts. Confirm it is a merchant payment code: foreign cards are not a universal way to transfer to individuals, send red packets or top up balances.
Settle the bill without duplicate charges
- If the app reports success but the merchant cannot see it, show the time, amount and transaction ID and ask them to check receipts before paying again.
- A pending bank entry does not necessarily mean a completed purchase. Save both records and ask your issuer whether it is an authorisation hold, a failed payment awaiting release or a posted charge. Refund timing depends on the provider and bank.
- Have the transaction ID, exact amount, time and error screenshot ready. Use in-app support; for issuer declines, use the phone number on your card or bank website.
Build a fallback for next time
Choose backups that will not all fail for the same reason: for example, a physical card from another issuer plus some cash. Two wallets using the same blocked card are not independent backups. Test a small legitimate purchase and save your bank’s overseas contact number.
Check before you go
Do not buy account-unblocking services, lend accounts, share verification codes or evade security controls. Fees, promotions and limits vary by card, account and offer; check the payment confirmation screen.
Common questions
Should I pay a stranger cash to scan for me?
Avoid relying on strangers to pay for you. Ask the merchant for cash, physical-card or another official payment option and keep a receipt.
Does linking a card guarantee a large hotel payment?
No. App, issuer and merchant limits or security checks can all apply. Confirm deposit and settlement methods with the hotel before booking.
