Plan Shenyang

Shenyang brings early Qing palaces, imperial tombs and northeastern city life into one trip. Explore the courtyards of the Mukden Palace, then the pines and stone sculpture at Beiling. Give Liaoning Provincial Museum half a day for regional archaeology and art, and finish around Zhongjie or Xita with dumplings and cold noodles.

These courtyards preserve Qing political and domestic spaces before the capital moved to Beijing. Compare the eastern Dazheng Hall and Ten Princes’ Pavilions with Chongzheng Hall and Phoenix Tower, noticing roofs, painted decoration and raised residential terraces.

Arrive, explore, settle in

Arriving

Arrive through Taoxian Airport, or check whether your train uses Shenyang or Shenyang North. Choose onward airport bus, taxi or rail connections around your hotel, and use the exact station on your return ticket.

Getting around

Walk between the palace and Zhongjie. Arrange separate transfers to Beiling and Liaoning Provincial Museum in Hunnan. Use metro or taxis between districts and spread the three main sights across several days.

Where to stay

For a first visit, stay near Zhongjie or a metro station on Qingnian Street for old-city walks, food and connections. Hunnan suits a museum-focused trip but needs transfers to the old center.
