01

When you decide to travel

  1. 1

    Check entry and route

Check passport nationality, document type, purpose, stay and full itinerary against visa or visa-free conditions. Confirm permitted areas for transit or special regions first; use the processing schedule of your actual visa office.

  2. 2

    Arrange health and insurance

Discuss conditions, regular medicines and planned activities with a travel-health professional and confirm access to necessary care. Arrange insurance suitable for your itinerary and save assistance details.

  3. 3

    Choose a workable city sequence

Treat each city transfer as a substantial part of a day rather than a full sightseeing day. Fix international arrival and departure cities, then reduce backtracking and frequent hotel moves.

02

Once the route is set

  • Book accommodation prepared to register your passport, saving cancellation rules, Chinese addresses and late-arrival arrangements. Agree with a non-hotel host who will handle registration.
  • Prepare identity information for transport and sights and set reminders for official sales windows. Check stations, terminals, ticket dates and passport names together.
  • Prepare primary payment, a backup card and cash. Choose connectivity and confirm your regular number receives bank codes. Plan phone power for a day of navigation and booking access.
03

The final check

  • Recheck official entry policies, weather, flights and key attraction notices, and ensure no essential order is paid but unissued.
  • Keep your passport, medicines and essential items with you. Check airline baggage and battery requirements, especially power-bank markings and recalls for domestic legs.
  • Save offline hotel addresses, transport orders, insurer and bank contacts, with a concise copy for your companion. Use NIA’s official arrival-card channel where required.
  • After arrival, complete the actual accommodation registration and check your permitted-stay deadline. Completing an arrival card does not complete every registration.

Check before you go

This is a preparation sequence, not a universal set of legal lead times. Entry, medicines and reservations depend on your circumstances and the relevant official rules.

04

Common questions

Can I sort everything after arrival?

Do not leave advance visas, popular reservations or phone verification until arrival. Local SIMs, cash and counters are fallbacks, but availability is not guaranteed.

What is a useful way to store details?

Group bookings by date and make one page for today’s transport, accommodation address and help numbers. Avoid publicly sharing identity files through an unprotected link.
